latency. distribution vs routing

PostSun May 07, 2017 10:56 pm

I have several cameras that I want to send to multiple ATEM switchers. So I need to split the camera signals. For flexibility, I used a router (specifically the clean switch) but it added a frame of latency. I'm pretty close to my max tolerance on latency already. So I may elect to forego the flexibility of the router and just put DA's on the cameras. Do the simple SDI distributors add any latency or are they basically loops? Thanks for the help.

The clean switch videohub has frame syncs on every input, this is where you are getting added latency. the regular videohubs will not have this delay. neither will DA's/SDI distribution units.
