lost thumb drive with Davinci on it...

PostWed May 10, 2017 3:19 pm

I bought a 4K a few months ago, but I didn't need the software until just about now, and I can't find the darn drive - yes, I should have installed it right away. Is there any way to get a full copy of 12? Somewhere to DL, or my mail or anything? Happy to provide the serial number from the camera or whatever...

Thanks,

Jason

Hello Jason. The software may be freely downloaded on the support web site at:

https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/produc ... nciresolve

The free and Studio versions may be downloaded from there.

The free-to-download version might be different than the one that shipped with the camera?

Gary, Yes he could download it.. But it will be locked to the free to use limited functions..

He wants to get a new Dongle to unlock the full version..

So i think he needs to go into the renew dongle procedure..??

Of course. It wasn't clear the dongle was lost. The SD card has the software. Keep in mind, the dongle is the product. If you have the dongle you can download the Studio version. The only option is to contact Support and see what they can do for you.

Gary's correct. Best to contact BMD Support. Hope you registered your camera when you received it.

With the pending release of Resolve 14, dongles are not required as Resolve will be using a software license. However I don't think BMD have yet announced details of how that will be achieved for current dongle holders. Speculation, but I doubt you'll be required to mail in a physical dongle. My guess is proof of ownership or prior registration of the products that were shipped with a dongle will result in a license key being issued. Might be complicated by resales of the product and if people have lost their dongle, but I hope they'll have a mechanism in place.
