BMIP Capturing 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound (Why not?)

Is there any reason that the BMIP can't be updated with drivers or whatever to be able to capture 5.1 dolby surround sound? Happauge's had that capability since 2008. I bought this product thinking that (at the time anyway) it was the latest and greatest but it appears to not be updated with something as common as the ability to record 5.1 dolby surround sound. Many many people use surround sound in this day and age. Isn't it a worth while en-devour to invest some resources into accommodating the masses?

I'd like a response to this by someone that would know the real reason this either cannot/will not/or hasn't yet, come out.
