not able to get a video input with Intensity shuttle USB 3.0

PostWed Aug 02, 2017 1:56 pm

I'm not able to view something with the device.

I try with svideo, composite and HDMI and always a black screen.

I plug the HDMI cable output in the TV (HDTV), plug the hdmi cable in. Gone into Blackmagic Media Express and always got a black screen. I followed the instruction in the manual that came with Blackmagic_Desktop_Video_Windows_10.9.5 drivers.

I have Windows 10 on a Lenovo P70 with USB 3.0 ports (yes I tried with all the USB port. The device is reconized)

I use lot of source device. my SuperVHS (composite), PVR (hdmi), Onkyo Receiver (HDMI, to see the menu for music), Ubuntu (which is shown in the Video). The content was not protected.

I waited on my vacation to be able to try more, but I never be able to get it work since I bought it.

I recorded my latest attempt on my cell phone (sorry for the quality, I should have put pause between manipulations) :

what I did wrong ?

When you tested with Media Express, did you have any other applications open that may have seen the Intensity Shuttle as a source? If so, this could cause conflict and be the reason why you were seeing a black screen. Also, if the HDMI content has HDCP, you'll see nothing but black as our products will not accept signals from copyrighted content.

I didn't have any other applications running. I did a uninstall/install of the latest software version and rebooted more than once.

The content is not protected, I'm trying with the simplest setup. Ubuntu (Kodi) with HDMI output, no HDCP. Just displaying Menu.

I try with my Onkyo TX-NR818 receiver and didn't work either. With the receiver, I can browse radio stations or setup the receiver when plugged into a TV. Tried that and didn't work too.

There is a way to run the software in debug/verbose mode to trace what going out with the input ? I could send you a log.

The content doesn't have to be protected in order for the media player of that content to pass HDCP. Try running a camera into the device and see if there is an issue.

TVs/receivers accept HDCP content and other formats with more ease than our products as they're meant for viewing not recording/capturing.

Another thought is it possible to swap the USB3 cable and to confirm that no other connections are made to the computer externally that may congest the bandwidth the Shuttle needs?

I don't have other cable. I used the one that came within the box. I don,t want to pay a 20$ cable because the one that I received is not working correctly.
