BM Video Assist Inputs & Outputs

PostWed Aug 30, 2017 5:36 pm

The Video Assist has SDI & HDMI inputs & outputs. The spec says you can loop through to monitor input on a larger screen - but is it just loop through - ie HDMI to HDMI & SDI to SDI? Could you have an HDMI input with an SDI output to monitor (or vice versa)?

SDI/SDI and HDMI/ in/outs are a loop through of sorts. But, you can input SDI and get a HDMI feed of the signal being inputed. Mhiwever SDI/HDMI and the other way round are not loop through, but rather the outputs are from the video processor, post processing, so there is a slight delay. Also if you input a UHD signal vai SDI, the HDMI output will be downconverted to HD.

Thanks Denny, that confirms what BM Tech support replied in answer to the same question - except for the delay & UHD down conversion that you mentioned.
I'll actualy be going from HDMI in to SDI out & am only using HD anyway - it will save me buying a separate converter.
