Decklink Extreme HD 3D 3Gb/s or not?

PostWed Nov 15, 2017 2:32 pm

Greetings members,

I've been working with decklink SDI capture cards for a year now, and I noticed something very confusing with box-labeled specs.

Most cards, and specifically the "HD Extreme 3D", is rated on the box for SDI 3Gb/s, but at the same time, the box says it supports SMPTE 292M and up to 1080 50i.

It is my understanding that 3Gb/s falls under SMPTE 424M, and the pixel support is up to 1080 60p.

So, how is it justified to label the card as SDI 3Gb/s when 1.485 Gb/s is a more accurate description?!

Thank you,
Badri

We don't use ours anymore, but it should do 3G-SDI level B just fine.
