Awesome! That's great news Rick. 10K HDR! That's gonna be sweet. I'm guessing it will be larger format cameras we'll be using to capture 10K. Can't wait for the Blackmagic 65mm sensor size camera.

Gee, what does it take to be called HDMI 3.0?

30K Resolution, with 480Hz Refresh rate. 120 fps is the max frames per second we'll ever go more than likely. Not sure what else other than HDR, but maybe super duper awesome dynamic HDR. Haha.

The best news in that spec for filmmakers is that it will carry a 4K signal with up to 16bit 444 color. That's nice and really useful.
The 10K spec is really for video advertising and similar installation style screens (or perhaps for some as yet undeveloped VR screen) that people would be viewing up close, rather than any kind of typical cinema or home television use where even the sharpest human vision maxes out once you get 6' from a 65" 4K screen. No one would sit closer than that with a screen that large (or larger). And it's the same for typical viewing distances in the cinema. 10K in the home or in theaters has zero benefit.
There's also some details like "Dynamic" HDR that will be a disaster for filmmakers just like motion smoothing is today. First the TV manufactures messed with our frame rates to "improve" the motion, now they want to "improve" the color and contrast in our images.

I would like to say thuderbolt 4 instead, but there is nothing on 4 announced, even though pcie-4 is out. Intel has been pushing OCuLink-2 though, which is sort of closer to what thunderbolt was supposed to be.

It would have been good if the usb-c plug and thunderbolt 4 was used instead of HDMI. Then most things, including external hard drive coluld be done through one sort of interface.

Remember MHL promised 100gb/s in usb-c. People ohhing and ahhing, no need for things like tb, I thought yeah, when's that coming out (after tb reaches likely 100gb/s anyway). I'm suspect they could probably fit more in the existing usb-c wiring anyway. I wish HDMI would give up and adopt TB or other pci-e interface.
