Mac Mini mouse disabled by Desktop Video software

I just purchased an UltraStudio Mini Recorder, hoping to use it to do video capture on my Mac Mini (late 2014 model, running High Sierra 10.13.2). After connecting the device, installing Desktop Video and restarting, my Mac was completely unable to recognize any USB mouse (I tried three). Oddly, it continued recognizing the USB keyboard just fine.

After several exceptionally frustrating hours learning how to use MacOS without a mouse, I managed to run the uninstall for Desktop Video. After a restart, the Mac was once again able to recognize the mouse. I'm frankly afraid to attempt this procedure again.

Any advice?

Please disregard. A more recent version of the software solved the problem.

I'm a little new to the Mac platform and I'm assured by old-timers that I should never, ever, ever use the driver supplied on the media that comes with the device.
