BMPCC:  broken HDMI micro port...

Hi!

So it was my turn then to experience the broken HDMI micro port... x 2 :(

Our A cam´s port just stopped working, and on the B cam the whole socket got loose and vanished into the camera.

Question is...... Is this fixable? I read a lot of different opinions on this.

Some say that it is simply not fixable, since the port is connected to the main board and any welding will damage the whole main board, and some say that is is possible to weld the connectors back at the main board.

Any experience, anyone?

I used a Gripper clip on battery that powered both the camera and the BM video assist.

Can it be that it caused a ground loop?

The HDMI ports are not likely fixable. Time to replace the Pocket camera’s with the Micro Cinema Camera.
Cheers

Hi Denny.

Yeah.....well.... we got no possibility to do that atm.

But we got access to a pro camera and electronic technician, but he has no previous repair experience with the BMPCC.

With enough time and money just about anything is possible. To the best of my knowledge however, it has never been successfully repaired and I've been on the BMCuser forum since before there was a Pocket camera. This exact thread pops up once a month and always ends up right back where it started. Who knows, maybe your guy can do it, he'll be the first.

Here's a teardown video so you can see how it all comes apart.

Good Luck
