.flv is a Flash Video File, which is often a weird packaging of an mpeg4. Down inside that flv file, it is most often an mp4/h.264 video, in an flv wrapper. There are tons of software out there that will convert it. One, cloudconvert, will supposedly do it on the web for you (I haven't used it). Upload your flv, and download what you want. Or use some professional software like Adobe Media Encoder.
I don't know what your "list thingy" is, or where you are trying to upload it, so it is hard to help more than that.
