What do I need? SDI PiP

Hello,
For a church I help with I need to take 2 SDI inputs, put one Picture-in-Picture into the other, and then output that to SDI again. I am guessing that a PCI express card and software are the way to go, but may be wrong. As this is non-profit, the lowest cost reliable solution is appreciated.

Thanks,
Anish Hermon

Hi.

I don't know your actual budget but the Atem Television Studio HD has this feature buit in.

As already suggested the Atem tvs HD would be the cheapest BMD hardware solution.

Alternatively using a decklink duo capture card in a PC running a software switcher like vMix could be another solution. Note. vMix offers a special pricing structure for non-profit/ church groups, which you might qualify towards.

That would be in fact a cheaper solution.

But i can still get it cheaper :D

I think that it would be cheaper, price wise, to go with 2 DeckLink Mini Recorder insted of the Decklink Duo and you would still have the option between HDMI and SDI that way.

Also, instead of goig for vMix, just use Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) which is free and that way you just have the cost of the hardware.

I belive it's going to be hard to find any cheaper options, but the challenge is hereby launched

Best regards,
Paulo Brinca
