I currently use the Web Presenter along with OBS for live streaming. At first I too was a bit bummed by the 720p limitation but depending on the material and design of the live stream it may or may not be a problem. You can still stream in 1080p and have overlays and graphics be generated in native resolution and mix that with the 720p material from the Web Presenter.
In my case I use the Web Presenter for camera + audio feed and NDI feeds for other external (computer) sources mixed with local material in OBS. One neat bonus of the Web Presenter is that it can work as a makeshift switcher for two sources when connected using both SDI and HDMI.
In reality you must take into account that many (if not most) clients will still watch in 720p so you probably have to adapt your material to work in that situation anyway. One other aspect is frame rate. Depending on the situation 720p60 may be more desirable than 1080p30 for example. Especially for fast paced situations such as gaming.
