Media Express Hangs - Desktop Video 10.9.12 - Ubuntu

PostFri Oct 12, 2018 6:53 pm

Hello,

I've installed a Blackmagic Design DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G Capture & Playback Card in a ThinkStation D30 running Ubuntu 18.04.1. The Desktop Video drivers (10.9.12) install just fine and the GUI utility can see the video stream on the input at 1080p60. So I think the drivers installed correctly. When I run Media Express to capture raw video, however, Media Express hangs and I have to force kill it.

This wasn't the case after the initial install, however. I was able to see live video. For some reason things have changed since then. Actually, I removed the 8k pro card from my machine because it wasn't capturing either. I then removed all BlackMagic software, rebooted, and reinstalled them. So now I'm stuck. I saw other threads with similar problems from a few years ago suggesting driver issues, but installing the latest drivers doesn't seem to help either.

Thoughts?
