DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G - Device not detected

I installed the new card and Desktop Video Windows 10.11.4. Power cable is plugged into the card and everything looks fine. However after installing the software, no device was detected in OS or the software.

I tried swapping to a different PCIe slot and it's the same behavior.

I need to decide if this is a defective card and if I should return and get a new one. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Be sure that the OS is updated to the last release and other drivers for GPU and such. If after confirming all this the card is still not detected, reach out to your regions support office and they can give you further guidance.

in my case the card is detected but it's not giving any signals from it's ports.

if i plug the power cable into the card my computer isn't even turning on. I have tried different PCIe of different computers. It's either not turning on or it's not giving any signals.

i am wondering if i am doing something wrong when i am installing it and if there would be any video guidance to install and make it work properly.

Thanks

The power requirements for this device are 30W so it's a possibility that the computer(s) does not have sufficient power for all the other components and our card. Are you seeing the card in the Desktop Video setup application and/or Media Express?

Decklink works but NOT in Desktop Video/Media Express

Hi folks,
I have a
- Decklink 4K Extreme 12G.
- Win 10 Pro, 1809
- BM Driver 10.11.4
- X399 board

The card worked fine until one day I took it out of this PC to test in another machine in which it also worked. I put it back in (did not power up the PC when card was out).

Now it works with certain software (Vmix, Caspar CG, OBS) but it does NOT show up in desktop Video and Media Express.

One indication might be: in OBS you have the Option to choose a "Video Capture Device" - WORKS - or to go for a "Blackmagic Device" - works NOT. So there might be two options to access the card of which only one works.

Any idea anyone what this is about? Lately I often have trouble with removed Decklink Cards. If you don´t uninstall them before removal things go wrong.

(((I already re-seated and re-installed it. Power is connected, fan spinning and it is being recognized in device manager.)))

Hi Tony,
thanks for your reply. It´s not about hardware. The card was perfectly working in the exact same slot with the same connections (750W power supply, more than enough)

- Windows is up to date
- tomorrow I´ll update GPU driver

--> which other drivers might also interfere?
--> the strange thing is that it is half working. As described it is NOT being seen in Desktop Video/Media Express.
--> it DOES in/out Video in VMix, Caspar CG and OBS

Any comments on that?

It is odd that it would be detected at all by a third party app if it is not seen by any of ours but, loop out not necessarily since the card is just passing the signal ingested to it.

Third party app testing in house is very limited and with some other testing we have done on Windows 10 fully updated has not seen the same reports here.

I don´t get it as well. But maybe this is a hint you could check out:

In OBS you have 2 methods to import the Decklink Source
1. "Video input device" - there you could choose from all possible capture cards
--> works with the decklink

2. "Blackmagic Device" - only suitable for Blackmagic Capture devices
--> does NOT work

So there might be different modi to access the card!?

Any comments on what I wrote that it got kind of uneasy swapping the cards, rendering them unaccessible in Windows?

Are the computers the exact same builds or is there some difference is OS builds/hardware?

Hi Tony,

these were different computers. Same Windows 10 Pro but different board, CPU, etc.

But the machine the card stopped working in was unaltered. So the order was like

- AMD X399 machine, GTX 1060
- Intel Z390 with integrated graphics
- exact same AMD/configuration, not powered up between removal and putting back

And now in the AMD machine I have the strange behaviour (with OBS, etc.)

Are there any fundamental things to recognize when swapping cards?

The computer with integrated graphics I would not expect to work well if at all due to those not really being ideal for any editing/processing of external video signals. That said, we were trying to see the correlation of these events as we were unable to replicate this issue in our testing facility.

Also, so long as the PCIe slot(s) support what is required for the card to be used with the motherboard, I would not see that there is a specific workflow/set up that would need to be established.

I have a

- Decklink 4K Extreme 12G.
- Win 10 Pro
- BM Driver 10.11.4
- Rampage Extreme VI (latest Bios)
- Radeon 9100 WX
- 32 Gb Ram
- 1200 Watt Power Supply

Win 10 and BM Video Setup do not detect the BM card, even if J change the PCIe slot to the BM card.

Can anyone help me ?

Hello,

I’ve just purchased a second Decklink 4k Extreme 12G and I'm getting the same problem...

When I install it into my new PC, I get “No desktop video device detected” in the Video setup app, and it isn’t showing in the device manager.

Because I thought it may be a driver conflict or a bios / motherboard issue or something, I then removed an identical card from a working system, and tried replacing it with this new card, and I get the same issue on the other system. Nothing. I can’t see or mount the card in anyway.

I’ve tried all the obvious trouble shooting. Different power supplies, Slots, re-seating, the latest drivers, but nothing seems to work.

Our original DeckLink card works fine in both PC's, so it's obviously something to do with the new card.

Is there anything else I can try?
