DeckLink 8K Pro, multiple camera support

PostTue Dec 25, 2018 11:34 am

Greetings,
In a previous question regarding a VR setup I have asked for help from the community in order to verify our overall system components. One of the responses indicated "DeckLink 8K Pro"s inability to capture four different streams from 4 different cameras and it was only able to capture from a single camera at a time.

(1) Can someone verify this, as the number of PCI lanes on our motherboard may not be enough to support 10+ "DeckLink Mini Recorder 4K"s?

We have no prior experience with either card and have no knowledge or access to documentations clarifying this question, all we have is the technical specifications listed under specifications tab of "Decklink 8K Pro"s web page, which mentions the following:
SDI Video Inputs
4 x bi-directional 12Gb/s SD/HD/2K/4K/8K. Supports single, dual link and quad link 4:2:2/4:4:4. 2D/3D switchable.

(2) If "DeckLink 8K Pro" is unable to handle multiple cameras, can anyone propose a more efficient setup (than using 10+ "DeckLink Mini Recorder 4K"s) to capture 2160p30 (via 6G-SDI) from 10+ cameras? As we are going to use BMMSC4K, buying capture hardware from BM is also preferred.

I do thank Xtreemtec for their warning.

Thank you all for your help and happy holidays!
Best,

Volkan Dinc
