Decklink Duo 2 forcing 59.94p instead of 60p

PostFri May 17, 2019 6:56 am

I recently took ownership of a Decklink Duo 2 and four Blackmagic HDMI-SDI mini converters. I'm currently capturing the output of a Nintendo Switch, a Canon HF R800, and a Sony AX53. The console is detected at 1080p60, but the cameras are detected at 1080p59.94, despite their internal settings both saying they're outputting 1080p60. I use OBS for my live streams and recordings, and I have OBS set to 1080p60 for local recordings, and I downscale my streaming output to 720p60 for Twitch. Since I can't seem to change the cameras frame rate in Desktop Video (although I would love to know if it's possible), I'd like to know if this difference in frame rate will cause issues, and if so, how severe those issues might be

The cameras are using 1080p60 as shorthand for 1080p59.94, which is the standard. The Blackmagic cards do not set the framerate of the device, and they can't capture anything but the framerate coming out of the device. You won't notice any issues.
