Intensity Shuttle and capture file formats

PostThu Sep 13, 2012 10:17 pm

I want to capture video from VHS tapes using Thunderbolt Intensity Shuttle and Media Express. When setting my preferences in Media Express, I only see three options for Capture file formats: Uncompressed 8-bit, uncompressed 10 bit, or DPX. The manual says I can "select from a range of professional compressed and uncompressed capture file formats." I would like to capture to a compressed format (AVI, DV, or mp4). Is there a way to do this using Media Express? If not, can you recommend other software that will work with the Intensity Shuttle?

(Note: I do not need editing software, I just want to capture the video to a compressed format).

Thanks.

Those other codecs are installed by the apps that license them. So you'd need a software that installs ProRes in order to be able to capture to it (we don't have license to supply it). Same thing goes for DVCPro HD.

Doesn't Premiere Pro (CS6) provide any additional capture file formats (e.g. codecs)? I've installed Premiere Pro, but I have only one single option in Media Express:

On my home mac: QuickTime Uncompressed 8-bit YUV
On my office mac: H.264 MP4

Is there any possibility to add some more (un)compressed codecs?

Thanks in advance,
