warning symbol while recording

Lately I've been getting a flashing red warning symbol in the top left corner of the display instead of the standard "rec". I have no idea why I'm getting this, any ideas out there?

You are dropping frames, your media (SD Cards or ?) are not keeping up with the camera’s data rate.
