Bravo to Hook! The Film Look Creator is excellent. The skin bias control is especially useful and yields an adjustment that I’ve not seen in any other look tool.

Loved Grant's little joke at the end of the presentation:
"So that's about all for this update, sorry it's a bit long. It's so long I was worried I might have to go and stop for a moment and have a shave."
Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.

Would it be possible to have a 6k mode(non-crop) on this camera? I don't need 8k, but would like some extra resolution over 4k for image stabilization. Plus the savings in storage, transfer times...etc over 8k.

Dan, I may be proven wrong, but the ‘full frame’ resolutions with BMD’s proprietary sensor are 12K, 8K, and 4K without crop but the 9K is unable to take advantage of the sensor circuitry like 8K and 4K can, so the 9Kresolution requires a crop of the sensor.

Does anyone know if the peli cases that are included are a different size case for the EVF and non EVF versions of the cameras? Or if the non-EVF version just has a cutout for the EVF anyway. Looks from photos like a bigger case if you get it with an EVF but it’s hard to tell, I can’t find definitive info.

Edit: Tech specs say a 1510 peli case but don’t specify if that’s for both versions.

Finally adding the URSA Cine into my personal BMD camera spreadsheet that I maintain for camera comparisons. My this URSA Cine camera is designed to shoot with a lot of photosites! I did notice if someone wants to shoot a standard Super 35 then the 9K 16:9 format is a great match to traditional Super 35 with a horizontal sensor crop of 24.9mm and a diagonal crop factor of 1.445x. So that 8588x4896 is the best resolution selection if you’re restricted to Super 35 lenses.

The one with the EVF, extension arm, eye chamois and mounting bracketry is a 1560 case.

Seemed like a lot of camera for a 1510, I had assumed it was the 1510 TARDIS model.

Good Luck

Thanks for sharing! This is useful for planning if you want the Viewfinder Package to fit in with the URSA Cine. So the main goal should to be buy the package in order to fit it all in the case.

May I suggest making the case available separately in the event people buy the camera without EVF Package, and then add the EVF later. This way people have the option to buy the case separately. Overall you'll save buying the full UCine+EVF package with the case.

Yes, but easy to overlook:

https://downloads.blackmagicdesign.com/ ... 2.braw.zip

https://downloads.blackmagicdesign.com/ ... 1.braw.zip

https://downloads.blackmagicdesign.com/ ... 5.braw.zip

You will need Resolve 19 beta to open those.

Looking closely at the beautiful BRAW clips from John Brawley and James Marin, the Cine-12K, posted above by Robert, I regret to say the low noise level kills my U12K. Highlights clip at the same level as before, but the shadows are so clean I would surmise the extra 2 stops of claimed DR is going to prove accurate.

As consolation, Blackmagic threw me a meaty bone with the new UltraNR in Resolve Studio 19 beta. Might be possible to get close to the low noise of the Cine-12K but the fact you don't need to process the Cine-12K for NR amounts to a huge timesaver.

Tom, add a NR node to your UMP12k footage with these settings:
Spatial / Fast / Chroma Radius = 8

And watch the color noise disappear.
