Card showing "Format" message after power off and on

PostThu Mar 15, 2018 6:25 am

BM URSA Mini. First shoot of the day on a Lexar Pro 3400x 64GB card, Prores 4:2:2 1080p. Stop for a few minuets so turn off that camera. When I turned it back on I get the "Format Card" message. Not reading on Laptop.
A) any idea what may have caused this?
B) Suggestions to get the footage back?

Its not a big deal in that I could easily cover what I need with other shots I have but big deal in my confidence in the cards. Less than a year old.

Not with my other cards. I'm waiting for them to cut the rest of the pictures before I format the card. I'm still not going to be able to trust it.

I wonder if the camera was turned off immediately because you knew you had several minutes to wait before the next shot. I don’t know if that happened but best to leave the camera on longer if you can.

I was up on a roof and had about 20 minuets before the next part of the shoot so I wanted to save the battery.
I think the plan now is to format the card and then try to recover the footage. I don't need it I just want to know if I can save the footage if it happens again.

You may be able to get media back using testdisk, assuming it's just the partition table that was damaged.

Found the files but was unable to recover them. Not going to be able to trust that card again.

Generally one doesn’t format the card until after all attempts to recover fail. Some here have reported success with Disk Drill Pro. I think the first use is free so you can see the data but then you pay to actually recover it to another media b

Yeah we tried all sorts of recovery options which is why we moved onto formatting then recovery as a last resort... no luck at all.
