Panasonic 35-100 f2.8 II on the Pocket Cinema 4k

PostWed Jan 16, 2019 3:30 am

Has anyone used the 35-100 f2.8 II on the pocket cinema 4k? I'm wondering if the stabilization works and how well it works. I've heard that the 12-35 f2.8 doesn't work well on the pocket 4k and I'm wondering if that's true about the 35-100 as well.

I can confirm that the OIS of the 12-35 f2.8 II together with the PCC4K doesn't work well.
After I switched to the Olympus 12-100 f4.0 OIS I've never looked back, that lens has fantastic optical stabilization and the zoom range is perfect for the PCC4K.
Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.

I find that the stabilization in the Lumix/Leica lenses works fine with the P4k for static shots...I can even hold a full zoom in the 50-200mm with the 2X extender and get usable shots. However even with the 12-60mm, panning at above 40mm is too jumpy and needs to be stabilized in post. Robert, how is the Olympus with panning?

The Olympus works surprisingly well. From time to time it can introduce judder - only when you're panning to fast - otherwise it does the job.

David, does the touch focus control work well the PL 12-60 on the new Pocket4K?

I own both Panas and I think that the 12-35 is actually not that bad. It holds up for most of my shots. The 35-100 not so much though, you will need a tripod for it, especially when going over 50 (+/-). It worked better on the Pocket 1. If only I had the money for the Olympus...

Touch focus and touch aperture work fine with both of my Pana/Leicas.

Thanks, good to know. I also have the PL 12-60, I use with my Micro camera, and would be my first choice with a BM Pocket 4K.
Cheers

I compared them both in the store. The Oly has much better stabilization with the P4K.

Is it an obvious Olly stabilization dominance or are they close because honestly I would prefer the no distortion of the Leica from 25-60mm

It was completely obvious with pans and tilts above 40mm. They were jumpy on the P-L12-60 and not on the OLy. The 12-60 has great stabilization on th GH5.

I would have been happy to make a video but I immediately sold the P-L12-60 and bought the Oly.

So PL 12-60MM lens is useless for video. I am shocked nobody has reported that the aperture changes when zooming. I was hoping if it is stopped at F4 will stay consistent but it does not. Returning it and getting 12-100mm Olympus and will try to find a easier way to correct distortion..
