A stupid little short film I shot in two hours on the Mini 4K :) I just had an urge to do something quick and easy while I'm working on my next feature and this remake was the result.

Everyone knows that robots only have one thing on their mind...

Background:
In 2008, Chris Tempel and Chris Trechter produced a short film called "The Cube" as an entry to the MTV Movie Awards spoof contest. A cross between Disturbia and Transformers, that short was produced in 24 hours.

Six years later, Chris Tempel decided to remake that short film, by himself, to show what is possible if you just want to make movies, even if you have nobody else to help. "The Cube" remake was shot in two hours with the URSA Mini 4k and an Audio Technica mic. Post production took two weeks and consisted of an edit in Avid, VFX in Blender and Nuke, audio mix in Pro Tools, and final grade in Resolve.

Here is a Horror short film I shot on the URSA V1. Kept it very low key. Just wanted to shoot something of my own again. No Script, No Crew, just me and the actors for an afternoon/evening. I'd love some Feedback!

A very short short of a deer friend who jumped by this week shot by an URSA Mini 4.6K PL with SLR Magic 50mm APO prime. Of course you know the video colour on my computer is better, but what can I do?

Here's my Ursa Mini 4.6K entry: 48 Hour Film Project in Boston. Some people think it's fun to write, shoot, edit and deliver a film in 2 days. Luckily I had 25 of those people join me on May 13.

I always say, if you can't be good, don't get caught. In this case our ADD crime family and the supporting cast and crew were well behaved for the most part. Thanks for watching and your kind words. You should try one of these if you haven't!

Rex Dean wrote the song and recorded it while I was directing scenes and editing. I had no idea what he was up to. Funny song. I will see if he can add a new verse with a Molokini embellishment!

Hi all together

I got my BMMCC and BMVA a few days ago and this is my all first test in cinematography and grading. Maybe it's a little bit to shaky and dark (handheld :-)), i have to learn sooo much about exposure, lighting, focusing, grading etc. :-)

but what do you think? (Samyang 12mm Cine, ISO 400)

It's interesting to work with this camera and i love to try things.

Have a good day, Adrian

Adrian, good start. If you are using DaVinci Resolve, you can stabilize that video since the shakiness is quite mild for handheld.

Go to the Color page in Resolve,
in the bottom middle panel, select the Tracker (the icon that looks like a gunsight),
at the top right, change the button that says Window to Stabilize,
on the bottom right select the point tracker where a button may have defaulted to global tracker,
place the red point on an area that should be stable or
add points to track using the little icon on the bottom left,
hit the Tracker forward button to analyze the motion
(or the reverse button if you prefer beginning at the end of a clip,
then hit the Stabilize,
after a few moments, play your clip to see if it’s stable and repeat the process adding more points if needed.

I love the grading. Did you use any filters to get such a rich blue out of the skies? It's amazing how well balanced the scene and the sky look.

Thank you Lennart, glad you like it. I only had the chance of having the camera and the tokina 11-16mm lens, so didn't use any filters, the reason of the sky is the city itself, a very intense blue sky with cotton clouds.
I expose in a middle between the sky and the ground so in davinci was easier to balance.

It was an artistic choice, "INSTANTES" stands for instants, independent moments, so we have the chance to do something different with every moment, so the aspect ratios, sizes and use of color kick in with that in mind. Every moment is different but part of a whole.

Hello all!! We shot this using the BMPCC and Micro Cinema Camera! Shot in 422 ProRes because wanted to do some serious grading in post to get a darker, gritty feel to the look. We shot 60FPS for the smoke grenade to get that slow reveal and the solider falling! Anyway, I was very excited about how the cameras held up and with the look we got! Take a look and, if you don't mind, vote for us! Thanks!!

This was shot on BMPCC using Zeiss Contax lenses on a Metabones Speedbooster.

Thanks Denny.

21/2.8 & 28/2.8 for wides
35/2.8 for mid shots (& a couple of CU)
85/2.8 for most close ups (especially CU of singer with filtered light/flares)

I did use a 50/1.7 for a couple of shots, but they didn't make it into the final edit.

Thanks, I have the 18mm, 28mm, 35m, and 50mm Zeiss ZF lenses. Love the 28 with the SB for a "normal" lens and without for longer shots. The 50mm with the SB hits the sweet spot of 29mm for a nice med c/u, but your 85 gave some very sweet c/u results too. I also picked up a Panny Leica 42.5 f/1.2 lens to try out for c/u shots with shallow DOF, seems to match the Zeiss in IQ.
Keep shooting, live is short...

I edited it using DaVinci Resolve 12.5 Beta, and used the new speed ramping controls. I used Rokinon Cinema Lenses (16, 24, 35, 50, 85, 135), and Firecrest ND filters and a Polarizer. Enjoy!

VIDEO BEING REGRADED

I have started getting some feedback on Facebook about the grade. I did something very new trying out the HDR techniques. I may have taken it too far. It also seems to have effected my saturation. I will be doing a new grade a bit later.

BELOW IS THE REGRADED VIDEO:

Ok here is a new one from me!
It is super cheesy (on purpose). You have to think, "Saved by the Bell" "Step By Step" "Family Matters" all rolled in to one. We shot a new promo message intro for an upcoming sermon series entitled, "It's Always Something" where we will be discussing how something in life is always going wrong. The theme was supposed to be based on old 90's sitcom intros.
All shot on the Ursa Mini 4K (except the aerial which was shot on an Inspire 1). shot in ProRes HQ, 1080P 23.976. All edits, color correct and grading done in PP. I graded it with OVER saturation to match the motions and to capture that crazy 90's bright colors look! Music is even original score and recording done in house by one of our musicians and all Motion graphics done in house. Everything is original! Minus the spoof part! I shot in a day and edited it over the course of about 2.5 days... It's silly, so I hope you guys enjoy!

Hello fellows blackmagic users :)

For the "look what I shot" thread, here are a couple of things shot entirely on a Blackmagic Production Camera and graded in Resolve.

Hope you will enjoy or be inspired.

Notice: I don't think it'll be an issue, but just be informed that it has some "mature" content (male nudity)

Some additional infos

Shot on a Blackmagic Design 4k Production Camera in ProRes 422 HQ and RAW.
Lens used: Nikon 24-70 ED f 2.8, Nikkor 50 D f1.8
The film takes place in a location called Laguna del Mort, in north-eastern Italy. Part of the shots include sequences from the next chapter to be released as a second part of the Spring / Summer campaign, The boiler, which were shot in my studio.
Edited in FCPX, Graded in DaVinci Resolve 12.
Sound Design and Sound Production made on Logic Pro X
Voice Actors: Damiano Tescaro, Pietro Mingotti
Model / Performer: Sandro Busolo

And here after a teaser for the second part of the campaign.

Here's something recent that we shot with the URSA 4K:

I lowered the exposure using two Hoya ND4s and one Hoya ND8 (sometimes stacked) plus an UV filter to protect the highlights and get that moody & creamy look at F1.8 - 2.8 in bright sunlight. I'm really happy about how the camera handled the shadows. Also, the global shutter was absolutely existential for the handheld shots (maybe 80% of the video).

Hi,

Music video we shot on the bmpcc with a Lumix Vario G 14-42. Slo-mo parts are from a Nikon D3300.

Damn! Loved the CC and CG. Great work!

Here is the second part of my fashion film series for the same client.

Here's a fun little advertisement I just put together for a buddy of mine. Shot in UHD PRORES 422 HQ (LOG) on the URSA Mini 4.6K. Mainly Rokinon 24mm, with one Rokinon 50mm shot. Frame rate was 23.976 fps and shutter was 180° angle.

Oh, and audio was recorded with Shotgun mic going into the XLR inputs on the camera.

Thank you, Rick! Let me check what brand mic it was. If I had to guess it was a Rode, but let me check with the owner of the mic to be sure.
