Best MFT lens for ultra wide and 50mm bokeh fullframe effect

PostThu Jul 25, 2013 6:56 pm

What is the best MFT lens for BMPCC for:

1. ultra wide rectilinear effect for glidecam effect
2. best bokeh effect for a 24mm and 50mm full frame camera equivalent.

Thanks for any info.

This is my first post here after browsing this board for a month or two.

There's a very comprehensive MFT list. A lot of great lenses on there. As you can see from it, you really only have a couple options as far as lenses that will equate to a full-frame 24mm look. The Samyang 7.5, the Panasonic 7-14mm, and the Panasonic 8mm. If you can afford to be a bit less wide than that, I'd definitely suggest the Olympus 12mm 2.0 or the SLR Magic 12mm 1.6. Both of those lenses would come out looking like 35mm on full-frame. There are some good comparisons of those lenses floating around the internet that you should definitely check out as well.

As far as something around 50mm, the Voigtlander 17.5mm 0.95 is incredible looking.

All things aside though, if you're renting (or just have tons of cash to buy them) Zeiss super speed mkIII primes are some of the best super16 glass you can find.
