ursa shoulder mount feature

Simple and perhaps an obvious answer, but I cannot find the answer anywhere.
On the Ursa Shoulder mount there is a small v mount at the rear, underside of the shoulder piece. Can anyone tell me what it is for?

Check it every time you put the camera on the tripod, not locking it down has been the cause of many camera accidents.

Thanks for this. I use manfrotto on Miller legs so it does not get used. Appreciated.

I use a Manfrotto N12 head so I attach the quick release plate of the manfrotto to the VCT plate. The VCT plate then goes to the tripod. The camera shoulder QR gets mounted to the VCT plate when I have the camera on sticks and release it from the VCT when I want to carry it on my shoulder.
