SDI Out Port issue

PostThu Aug 01, 2013 3:57 am

Dear all,

I am having problem with my SDI out port as it seems that nothing is transmitted out. I do not have SDI-In monitor hence I am using a SDI to HDMI Converter (Battery Converter from Blackmagic Design too) and nothing seems to be transmitted out since last two weeks. I have managed to get signal out of this port before but we have never touched that port since then and suddenly it is not working for the past 2 weeks.

Does anyone else encountered such problem before? I have tested with another SDI-HDMI converter and a few cables. I think it is definite now that the SDI Port is burst. Anyway, do shed me some light if any of you have faced same problem before and would love to hear your solution.

How or what is the procedure to send the BMCC back? In the Support page of the Blackmagicdesign, my country "MALAYSIA" has not technical representative for repairing. Should I send it back to Melbourne as sending it back to USA (where I bought the camera) will cost a lot too.

How long does it take for Blackmagic to fix the SDI issue at the end of the day?

Thanks in advance to those who might shed some light here. :|

Hi Ezmeer,

I would suggest contacting our support office in Singapore. They can troubleshoot, and help you should the camera need to come back to them. You can find their contact number on this page.

Thanks Chris,

I have emailed Richard and hopefully they will come back soon.

Thanks again.

P.s. Anyway, in case the Singapore team does not respond, where is the next office I should liaise with?

The office in Singapore is your regional office, so they are best to deal with the problem. Otherwise contacting your reseller is another way to go, but being in the US, they might not be able to help so easily. I expect the Singapore office will get back to you, but I can't say how long this would take. I would suggest giving them a call, as this can only speed things up for you.

I am also facing the same issue. But our converter is working on *all TV monitors except our preview monitor and preview monitor is accepting HDMI from all sources except BM SDI to HDMI converter. Very strange issue. I thing the BM converter's HDMI output is different in some way. :( :( :( :(
