BMP4K - Magenta Screen

PostSun Feb 09, 2020 11:42 am

Hi,

Yesterday I've tryed to load some new LUTs on my Pocket 4K.
After pushing the Button to load. Nothing happens - I didn't apeard in the List. After 3 trys I gave up and thought, ok maybe a unsupported format or something. @BM: a Error message here would be helpful!

Anyway, I closed the Menu. Now my Screen was Magenta. Nothing more was was helping me out, like restart or battery change.

Finally I solved it with updating my Firmware (6.6 to 6.8).

When I try to recreate the issue, and will be successful - is there a way to reinstall the latest firmware. I have in mind there was somewhere a hidden button hold hack.

The LUT I've tryed to install works fine in resolve, is there a way to see if it's compatible to the Cameras?

Shouldn't the Camera - on software side - not prevent this kind of issues? Maybe the BM Team should have a deeper look into. If it's helpful I can send the LUT I've used.

Cheers Patrick

Patrick, was the LUT a .cube file x17 or x33? Did you create the LUT in Resolve or is this from the internet?

You can reinstall 6.6 if you like and try again. I’m not aware of the procedure that would install 6.8 on top of 6.8. All LUTs are wiped out with a firmware update so you need to have them available on your SD card or other source to reinstall after any update.

Hi Rick,
It's a LUT from Daniel Schiffer from his Vintage Pack. I'm not sure which format. Is there any way to find this out?

Back to 6.6. And again to 6.8 is a good way to go in that case I think. I know that the LUTs are whipe out with a update. In the past I always thought "whyyyyyy?" but now, after this issue it makes sense to me ;)

Patrick, the LUTs are certainly compatible as .cube files. I don’t know if they are x17 or x33. If you inspect the LUT it may tell you the precision. The x33 will be about 8x larger than the x17 LUTs.

I sent a note to Daniel.
