Audio Test Old Vs New Firmware BMCC

PostSun Aug 25, 2013 4:15 pm

Guys/Girls, I had the newest firmware as of last month (1.3?) on my BMCC EF. This morning I upgraded to current firmware (1.4) and did a test to see if there was an audio difference. Please use headphones to judge, not your mac book speakers! Don't kill the messenger also, I knocked this out before I went to the beach this morning.

BMCC EF-24fps, prores, 5700 (?), 180 shutter, 800 iso, no color correction, video went from the camera straight to FCPX
Zeiss 25mm
Internal Mic
Rode Video Mic Pro Flat in Unity Gain
about 10 feet from Focal CSM65 on Cinetics Cinemoco
Taking Back Sunday Record into presonus monitor st
Neil Young Tell Me Why Purchased from Apple Store into Universal Audio Apollo
All played through Focal CSM65's
The settings and picture of setup are in the beginning of the video

If you want to be really cool, like the video!~

Link will be posted in the following post, I am walking out the door and it has not uploaded all the way yet

Thanks Steve, looking forward to it.

But while you're on the beach and might get this message on your smartphone think about that quoted part above twice, please. I don't know how picky Neil Young or his record company is, but I wouldn't use any song by a recording artist if I hadn't purchased the rights to use it. Especially if you
step into public with your real name.

The current firmware is 1.4.1, you mean the version before the current version?

Yes you are right about firmware. I failed to check the previous version. But I got my camera 3 weeks ago and updated it right away. You are right about Neil young! I just didn't have time for a dialog test.

No worries about upload speed* - back to the beach then!

*a few days ago I had to upload a film to a festival as the DVD-submission got lost and it took me 12 hours (quite a pain as I told the office girl she'll have it soon...) - so no worries here!
