CANON FD LENSES FOR BLACKMAGIC POCKET CINEMA CAMERA

PostMon Sep 02, 2013 6:21 am

I've just have found deep in my dads stuff, two vintage lenses than can be used on my upcoming blackmagic pocket cinema camera with a fd adapter for mft.

CANON FD 50MM 1:1.4 S.S.C

CANON ZOOM FD 100-200 MM 1:5.6 S.C[/b]

I think the depth of the field in this old lenses is amazing unique. :)
what you guys think about this options while i get the lumix's 12-35 mm and 20mm lenses.

I've got a set of FD primes and love the look they give, much 'nicer' than the modern Panasonics but quite heavy/bulky compared to the pocket cam.

I have a set of these and love them. I've used them for years on various cameras and love their look and their manual aperture and focus control. The chrome breechlock versions also look damn cool. I think they look better than modern 'digital glass'.

Just watch your back with that 50mm F1.4, it's very soft at anything around F1.4/F2 or much below F4, but still seriously fast even when stopped down. I have the 100mm and it's pin sharp at F2.8, I would test out the longer lens to see how it behaves.

I went a bit crazy for FD lenses when I got my GH1 then upgraded to the GH2,

I have 2 50mm one 1.4 and one 1.8, 20mm f2.8, 24mm f2.8, 35 f2.0 (radioactive!), 85mm f1.8, 135mm f3.5, a 70-210mm f4.0 and a 200mm f2.8. So quite a nice set but although they are great on the GH2 they still crop a fair bit, and of course on the BMPCC most of them would need a tripod. The 200mm is pretty heavy so I doubt I'd be putting that on without some sort of support.

I do see the new Panasonic GX7 camera now has in camera stabilization which would help add a stop or so to some of these when using handheld. No stabilization on video though on this camera.

The 35-105mm zoom might be worth a look, even if all of these are quite long on the pocket.
No, an iGPU is not enough, and you can't use HEVC 10 bit 4:2:2 in the free version.

The 28-85 FD is a nice sharp lens even though it is f4. Similar IQ to the 24-105mm EF L.

I don't have a BMPCC yet, I do have FD 28 2.8, 50mm 1.8 and a few others I cant remember. The 28 is my favourite lens, the IQ is great and it produces such unique images.
BMPCC, FD Canon 28mm f2.8, Tokina 80-200mm F4, Tamron 70-300mm f4 C Canon J6x12 MFT SLR Magic 17mm T1.6, Sigma 19mm f2.8, Samyang 7.5mm f3.5
