C-mount Lens

PostThu Aug 23, 2012 12:28 am

Hello From France,

I would like to know if it will be possible to use "old" C-mount Lenses on this BMDC, with an "adaptator" ?
Cause I see that its possible to find some cheap second end C-mount Lenses (Angenieux lenses used before on Super 16 cameras).

If its- possible it just incredible !

The short answer is not really.

First you have to get past the mount, which is currently EF. So there's no easy way right now to mount C mount lenses using that mount. And even if you could, the sensor is a fair bit LARGER than 16mm, so any 16mm lens WON"T actually cover the sensor and you'll get dark vignetting in the corners.

oK...
I dreamed a few instants...

Thank you for responding so quickly to my question ...
The problem is that cinema lenses like "Zeiss Prime", "Angenieux", PL mount (used in your tests) are so expensive... I only use these lenses when they are rented for the needs of productions which I work on. But I for my own productions I dont have necessarily the budget....

And I already have a good range of Canon Lenses with my Canon 5D MarkII (I'm DOP) :

Canon 16 - 35mm f: 2.8 L
Canon 28mm f: 1.8
Canon 35mm f: 2
Canon 50mm f: 1.8
Canon 100mm f: 2.8 - Macro
I dont like zooms...

I need a very wild angle to respond to my client demands, to be able to shoot outside, landscapes, factories, groups of people (for Music Video Clips, Short films, documentaries...). Like a 10 or 11mm with a good aperture, f: 2.8, to have a "final a focal length" of 23 or 25mm...

Then I must find it with EF mount, no other choice to find a Lens at an affordable price...

I look forward looking at some tests of this beautiful little Magic box, with different lenses, but not sublime Prime lenses like Zeiss, Angenieux wich are very very expensive, but also with Canon lenses, like 50mm, 28mm, 100mm... or other normal good "tools".

>Thanks very much again !

If this is accurate:
http://camerarentalz.com/blackmagic-cinema-camera/

The sensor is wedged inbetween the M4/3 and 16mm. Cross reference this great resource (I helped with =) :
https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key ... JwvNDobeEw

It would appear a majority of c-mount lenses would have minimal vign, but it appears the mount would take a re-engineer to get the lens closer to the sensor.. The c-mount switars would be very nice on this cam!
