custom made gimbal for bmcc

PostSat Sep 21, 2013 7:58 pm

check this out... I am in the process of buying a gimbal from a guy in Poland that custom builds them with his design. he set mine up (in the link is my gimbal which will be shipped to me this coming monday) with monster brushless motors, very powerful in the 7015 model and the camera under carriage is also made specifically for the bmcc....
once I get it next week I will post some test footage.
his prices are insanly affordable - for mine he charged $3500.

check out the test run he did with mine before shipping it to me:

Footage looks great to me, and the price is certainly less than the Defy 5 - the one you would need to support the BMCC.

I have the feeling that people are getting spoiled by BMD's amazing prices.

Does he have a website / contact info?

I thought it was a decent price... this gimbal can carry a camera up to 8-9 lb. both defy 10 and besteady four who are not out yet are estimated at above 4.5k... but anyway, I thought it was a good price.
here is this guy's info if you are interested:

This is something that should be doable with 1500 if you are tech savy. Motors cost 100.

Main thing is how to implement accelerometers and how to read them in code that.
Controls the motors.

Nice sunday hobby if you do not have other hobbies like filming :)

I was going to say the same thing, rctimer.com is a good source for gimbal products.
But yeah, I can see how some people wouldn't want to spend the time to delve into this themselves, putting mine together was a pain to get working correctly.

But you can buy the prefab controller boards for this (under $100) and download opensource software. I guess some people would rather someone else craft it for them, but this is still a big mark-up.
