How to focus on the BPMCC screen >???

PostMon Oct 07, 2013 9:37 pm

Hi
Im having trouble getting a sharp image using the BMPCC. The screen is almost useless .Obviously in light.
But viewing in flat film mode, its really hard to judge focus.Resulting lots of soft, out of focus.
Any hints , much appreciated.
ROB

Im using a Lumix 14mm lens.

There's Focus Peaking, double click the Focus button and there's zoomed in focus assist, double click the OK button.

You could do the old school film way of doing it; with a tape measure which is what I do though granted I'm always about an inch off due to there being no focal plane mark on the camera.

The focus peaking is so weak on the screen you get false positives

Thanks guys.
Im just a little spoilt with the canons, and having a good screen, to be able to focus with. The BM screens are
not good for anything really.Unless you have a expensive external monitor, via the FRAGILE hdmi. or invest on a
loupe, which I have for the canons. Seems to be a lot of 'hope for the best" when filming , cos you not sure what your gonna get, focus and colour.
There was a very good point in a review I saw, that cos the film picture is so flat, unless you have a photo of what it looked like at that moment, your guessing when you come to colour grade...
It would help if you could have PLAYBACK in video mode, like you have in monitoring mode.
Thanks for any help./
