BMCC starter kit

PostSun Oct 07, 2012 9:18 pm

What is everyone else's opinion on the total accessories one should get for the BMCC to get started?
I already have a professional rig set-up so without getting into the endless sea of rig parts and options, what would be the best way to go for battery power, extra memory, etc.?

Switronix Powerbase-70 Battery Pack and
Switronix Dual P-Tap V-Mount Plate or Dual P-Tap 3-Stud Plate

I have a beachtek for XLR inputs but I probably need some way to convert the output.

I have been contemplating the same question and would appreciate your view on the following list that I have compiled.

3 SSD's (I will probably go for two 256 GB and one ~480 GB)
SSD drive dock
Macdrive (for Windows to allow formatting HFS+)
RCA-to-1/4" cable (for the BeachTek)
XLR-Female to 1/4" for my lavalier mic (no phantom power needed)
Swintronix Powerbase-70 + power tap

To me, this is barebones for someone like me who already has a DSLR kit. Missing?

Laird Digital makes a 3 foot 2-Channel Stereo Balanced Right Angle 1/4-Inch to XLR audio adapter cable that is specifically designed for the Blackmagic CInema Camera.

It sells for $49.95 at Merkertek:

http://www.markertek.com/Cables/Audio-Cables/1-4in-Phone-to-XLR-Cables/Laird-Digital-Cinema/BMD-RASPS-XLF-03.xhtml?BMD-RASPS-XLF-03

And yes, I own a BMCC and have been shooting with it and own this cable and am very happy with the cable.

I was going to make my own but this cable exists so go and get it.

Not to alarm you folks but it has been noted that the bigger SSDs handle RAW better than smaller.
I am sure itll be fine, Ive been testing a Crucial C300 256GB against Crucial M4 512GB and Sandisk 480GB.
According to the BMD Diskspeed test app, all good :)

Why not just order direct? The ship to Europe. I'm in London and I've had mine sitting on my desk waiting for the camera for over a month.
