Free Music for BM Filmmakers

PostTue Dec 31, 2013 8:57 pm

Hey everyone!

I wanted to share this track with you guys that you can use free of charge.
https://soundcloud.com/josh-flori/the-girl-1
If you use it, send me a link, and give me credit. Josh Flori

About me/why I'm doing this.
It always used to be my dream to write music for films. For the first time in my life I'm finally pursuing that, as well as the actual cinematography side as well. This is the first cinematic track I've made and I feel like it's a good start.

I'm posting to here first because since I've discovered bm, its sort of gotten me back on the film/music track, so I thought it was appropriate.

I may or may not continue writing and uploading cinematic mp3s for the bm community depending on the feedback.

PM me with any questions.

Josh

David, obviously it's not my first stab at music as a whole.
When I was younger I suppose I spent 3 years composing and am just getting back into it.
But I've only had logic for 6 months and have only been working on electronic music up until now.

Let me tell you, more traditional sounding music is certainly easier! Its like 123, boom. Music.

Ulysses, super glad to hear it!
This is very exciting

Oh, clearly. I was referring to a 1st attempt at a traditional movie type composition. I've played in many a crappy band and I couldn't do what you did. I thought it was really good.

Thank you very much for sharing your work - it's very well appreciated. Sadly there seems to be a problem with soundcloud itself at the moment, your link only generated an error page. I'll try again later.

Theodore, its funny you mention hanz zimmer, particularly that song.
I was watching inception last night and it sparked an idea for a new track Im working on now! Hans is one of my favorite composers.

Mac, the link should be working now.

Oscar, totally. Just give me credit!

Thanks for the feedback everyone!
Im definitely going to post the next one I'm working on now once I'm done.

Josh, you have no clue the impact you have made, with your film score. It's no doubt an expensive industry for indie filmmakers. In my world, a good movie is 60% audio, and your piece will slash my cost down in an upcoming project. Thank you so much. Keep it rolling and may the force be with you.

not to be a downer but, if you're a professional filmmaker and use the OP's music you should consider affording him some sort of compensation. some of us make our living making music, and it's difficult to compete with "free".

I totally agree. If you make money making a film, and the music is part of that film, a part of the money should go to the artist. But i'm glad that fine artists offer part of their work for free for people who make films for free.

Maybe you should think about creative commons licences and which one would fit your needs best.

Car,

I definitely agree.

I've had to compete with those "free" guys in the past and I get it.
But it's one song, and I really wanted to gauge a reaction.
I'm sure I'll keep doing it for a little bit, but no, not indefinitely by any means.

Art, super glad to hear it!

I know, I know...I'm using pay tracks in my works from epidemicsound, also I've order many tracks in the past from many artist, but IMO I'm not doing nothing but supporting his works by using his track.
