I just bought Tokina atx-i 11-20mm f/2.8 CF Lens for Canon EF and either autofocus and iris they do not work. What a mess. On the other hand Tokina 12-24 works for autofocus. I had to downgrade to 7.9.1 to get it working.

Hi all,
Any update in newer firmware? If not I am thinking of downgrading to older firmware. downgraded to 7.9.1
What is the drawbacks in downgrading? Are there other issues that would affect the camera?

Thanks!

You can review the changes since 7.9.1 and if there’s anything new since then, that’ll be your trade off. You cause always upgrade from 7.9.1 until it causes you difficulties.

No update for the moment. I have same issues with tokina 11-20 f2.8 atx-I and Sigma 18-35. My Bmpcc 6K pro 8.1 doesn't recognize the tokina, while Sigma 18 - 35 is recognized but the iris number is wrong( f1. 7) and the lens is darker.

To fix the darker problem with Sigma 18-35 I close the entire aperture and then re-open to f1. 8 with the cursor of the bmpcc and it fix the issue. it's a pain every time because I don't knkow the real aperture of the lense.

I've just registered to tell how shocked I am with what is going on with those two lenses - tokina 11-20 f2.8 and sigma 18-35 f1.8 - not working for so long...

From my point of view Blackmagic Design was always a company, which cared about users a lot, adding new features and supporting products for many years. This is the reason we at my company have invested in couple BMD cameras, ATEMs, speed editors, color panel...

Blackmagic products are not the one and only on the market - my loyality came from belief, that BMD does the ultimate best job in customer care, and no matter how big my company will grow, we will always be taken care of.

I hope that this issue left unresolved for so long is just a silly mistake, someone maybe didn't notice it, and it will reach those who's job is maintaining this compatibility.

To the matter - I've just confirmed, that both lenses work well on BMPCC4K (firmware 8.1) with Metabones x0.64, however don't work on BMPCC6KPRO (firmware 8.1) - attaching Tokina 11-20mm F2.8 CF ATX-I is not recogined at all, Sigma A 18-35 displays wrong aputure values and 'jumps' back and forward while increasing iris value linearly.

This is a serious problem for those who use photo lenses without manual aputure rings and because those users are especially a target for all BMPCCxx cameras, it deserves attention.

I have the same problem, but with a Canon lens. I upgraded my BMPCC 6K Pro to firmware 8.1 as soon as it came out, and had no problems with any lens (all Canon L-series) until I tried the 50mm f1.2 USM. When turning on the camera everything works more or less fine, although it sounds very loud changing the iris and the maximum aperture is f1.25. But when I turn the camera off and on again the diaphragm closes completely, makes a noise as if it is stuck and the iris control disappears. I don't have any problems with a Canon 5D Mk IV or with the previous firmware, so I downgraded.
I thought it might be a problem with my 6K Pro, but recently got a brand new one with the latest firmware and I can confirm that the same problem still exists. It has only happened to me with the 50mm, just as it has happened to others with the Tokina's.

Did anyone check if the new firmware 8.6 solves the iris control problem?

Update 8.6 Public Beta solved this problem for my Sigma lens. Interested in seeing if others see the same result.
