Samsung T9 SSD ?

Don't see it on the list as yet. Thinking of getting the T9 instead of the T7 Shield.
Anyone had any issues with using the Samsung T9 1Tb or 2Tb SSD on a BMPCC 6K Pro (6k-50fps-5:1) ?

Thanks

An ORICO enclosure with a Crucial MX500 is cheaper and faster.

I had bad experiences with Orico regarding their service.
Personally, I like Acasis better. They have a nice unit combined with a hub too.

I'm only speaking on the enclosure I tested. I've been using it since 2020 and it's low cost and works.

This is a post that I wrote for the MacRumors forum that compares an Acasis enclosure with a TEKQ Cube. There are photos of both: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/th ... t-31139359

The TEKQ was one of the first on the market. I came across it in an AnandTech article around maybe 2018. It became hard to find, but is readily available again. It's held together by screws. You know, so you can be mobile and put it in your shirt pocket.

Acasis's big selling point is that its enclosures are "toolless". What that means is that it got the lame brain idea to sell enclosures that are held together by friction. That way, one doesn't need to go to the effort of learning to use a screwdriver. Hey, the Acasis comes apart quicker, including, of course, all by itself. Being "toolless", the Acasis also uses a proprietary rubber piece, instead of a commonly available screw, to hold the SSD in place.

I still have the Acasis that I purchased, but I don't travel with it and I won't be buying another one.

Unfortunately BMD hasn't updated the recommended drives list for the BMPCC6K/Pro/G2 since October '22. The 1TB/2TB T9 drives are recommended for the BMPCC4K, BMCC6K, and the UMP12K though, so I feel like there's a good chance you'll be fine to use them. Caveat emptor, obviously. Good luck!

People who are interested in using an enclosure instead of a Samsung T series SSD off the shelf may find that thread useful generally:

Thunderbolt 4 & NVMe M.2 External Storage: Read/Write Speeds?

I started the thread in March 2022, but it's still active, with discussion about newer components, in 2024.

Btw where do you guys see the recommended lists you keep referring to? Any time I do a google search for compatible drives I just find old articles from 3rd party websites doing their own round up. Blackmagic is in some ways an awesome company but the things they neglect always surprise me. Why these lists aren't just specs at the bottom of their camera pages is beyond me.

Also, if I'm wrong and that's exactly where they are and I've somehow just missed that...my bad!
