I tried the 8.6 update on my camera and it was amazing having webcam functionality, however a couple days later my camera will not turn on and smells of hot plastic if left on AC. The camera was being used with the official AC power adapter as it normally is, but now instead of turning on the power led flashes orange. This happens with batteries or with AC power. USB is solid orange but the camera will not turn on.
I've contacted Blackmagic support but they've quoted me quite a high price for the replacement of the main board and I have to pay for shipping myself as it is out of warranty. So I've got a few questions:
Is there anything I can do to diagnose it myself? Recovery mode is unresponsive.
Is there a link to the power PCB as a service part?
Could this be directly caused by the update or just a stroke of incredible coincidence? And if so would Blackmagic cover it as an extenuating circumstance?
Thanks in advance, I'm just really defeated at this point. I invested in this camera for work and now I'm out of commission completely.
