Is F-Log supported on BRAW with Video Assist 12G?

PostMon Apr 22, 2024 2:31 am

Hey all - anyone have any experience using the X-H2S and the Blackmagic Video Assist with BRAW? I just picked up the Video Assist today and noticed when I enable RAW output, Flog is greyed out. I tested the same configuration with my Panasonic and was able to capture Vlog in BRAW. Any ideas as to why I can’t get Flog working with BRAW in the Blackmagic Video Assist? I seem to also be able to use Flog with ProRes RAW.
What might I be doing wrong? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

No first experience on my own, just found this video going through the necessary steps:

Regarding Flog I’d expect that this is the default you can’t change when recording BRAW.
Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.

Why do you struggle for FLog?

Log curve should be important when you need to encode more infos in a compressed way.

You record braw, it have inside all metadata to be interpreted in the correct way.

I had h2 and I had near photo dr also in video. I tried to do some stress test video and photo, and I found with braw the near same result on both files.
I used capture one and resolve.

With external raw recording Flog is metadata, sensor linear information isn't debayered prior to output. What does Mediainfo say about the recorded files? The source OETF and gamut should be available.

Good Luck
