BMC RAW short test (October, 24th 2012 - Parma - Italy)

PostSat Oct 27, 2012 1:12 pm

I filmed for two hours with the BMC on October, 24th 2012 in Parma (Italy); in RAW mode it's unbelievable!

Camera: Black Magic Cine Camera
Lens: Nikon Noct 58 mm. 1:1.2
Tokina 11-16 mm. 1:2.8
ND filters: Tiffen
Slider: Smart Slider Pro 800
Camera Support: O'Connor Universal Baseplate
Grading: Adobe AE CS6 + Camera RAW
Editing: Premiere CS6

Enjoy!

Nice work Filippo.. My favorite shot of all the clip was the girl with the drawing book sketching.. just how the shadows were shaping the shot and how the light casting on her made it look so poetic.. Excellent shot on that one

As soon as I decide to give up on this camera, something this nice comes out and renews my patience...well shot and very sharp!

Hi, which Tokina 11-16mm F2.8 did you use, Mark 1 or Mark 2? Canon or Nikon version adapted?

Excellent work, Filippo.

I'd love it if you could share with us how the clips on the stairway (night exterior) were lit?

Cheers.

Peter, this shot and the two others that comes before it are my favorites.. The light and the shadows on them are so nice

Nice atmosphere in it!... Is it me or is there some color fringing going on in the whites/pink highlights?

(old firmware? or lens?)

Agreed. Specific details about how those exterior night scenes were lit will speak volumes about the capabilities of the BMCC. Cheers.

Hi guys,
thanks for your comments.
The clips on the stairway are filmed in day light (the light from the left side was a reflection from the sun).

Cheers,

Filippo

It's really quite wonderful. Completely fooled me.

For me, it's a very nice "day for night" example. The practical ceiling light fixture visible in the background is what helped "sell" the shot as a nighttime scene.

However, I totally understand that others may have "read" this shot as a daytime scene.

Very cool either way. Cheers.

I hate to be THAT person but I could tell it was a day shot... I can' put my finger on it. Maybe because all the other lighting was natural and to light just ONE scene seems odd. Plus the look of the light just looked natural.
