Shooting with my camera!

PostTue Nov 06, 2012 7:20 pm

Hey guys I just wanted to share something i captured with my BlackMagic Camera! You all should post your stuff too!

I shot it in 0-bit Raw. It's an extremely clean image. Doing some tests and going to shoot some more in Imaginary res 0:0:0:0. I know you all are excited so lets share what we have!

Thanks guys. Also I would like to say that I am available for hire.

There are a few stipulations however:

1. The project will not be on time
2. You may ask about the progress of the project but I'm sorry, I don't reveal details.
3. You must pay in advance
4. I will give you updates when I feel like it but please don't excpect them to tell you anything.
5. Everything everyone else says is a lie.

I'm sure everyone here is used to this kind of service and won't mind a bit :P

Be sure to spread the word about Tim's ambiguous video services!

Are you sure your footage isn't a little under- and overexposed? Maybe try and pull it back in, in post? It's RAW after all :D

Hope you don't mind, but I downloaded your DNG and did a little grade with Magic Bullet...

The latitude is incredible!

Not bad! I went for a "Hollywood Blockbuster" look with my grade and a 2.35:1 crop. The latitude for grading IS great. I really like the 'sun is setting' vibe from this shoot. Great work.

I like Captain Hooks grade.
He/She clearly has an eye for the tones I am looking for.
Can someone tell me if this can be converted to the new format VAPORAW?
I hear its the sh*t!!

Absolutely priceless post. It even took me out of lurker-mode!
Definitely some of the best material we've seen from the BMCC so far. Can't wait to see the ProRes shots!
Thanks for sharing, it reminds us the camera is worth the wait ;)

yes I did experience that. In fact all the frames were dropped. Maybe the firmware update will fix it.

Hmmm. Maybe there's a sensor issue at manufacturing? They should look at getting it fixed before ramping up shipping.

Best post ever. My friend and I are busy editing and took a break to read this. We were literally on the floor laughing... we both said "its so funny because it's actually true"...

These kind of blackspots on the sun are actually quite common with vaposensors. I suspect the problem is something to do with the way the it is still at the vapofactory and has yet to be built.

The image that you're seeing is actually RAW light hitting the SSD and burning a hole around the empty casing for the sensor. This would also explain why all frames were dropped.

I'm sure that version 2,135,637.3 of the firmware will fix this.

I actually think this is an example of a sensor-less BMC, hence the big black spot in the middle of screen when viewing RAW.
