Can I use a step down ring on this lens?

I am planning to rent a canon 24-105 f4L for a shoot i am doing next week and I was wondering if the step down ring from a 77 to 58mm will be visible when doing a wide angle shot? All my filters are 58mm and I don't want to buy all new filters for this. Any one have experience with this?

I've used a 72 -58mm step down on the bmcc with the sigma 18-35 with no vignetting whatsoever so I assume you should be ok.
