Music video for metal video

PostMon Sep 01, 2014 10:25 pm

Here is a music video I shot for a metal video using my BMCC and BMPCC, experimented with time lapse for the judder effect.

Hey Richard,

You did some really nice work in this video. I'm not a metal fan, but the camera work, B&W grade, and the T/L judder really works for this song making it extra creepy. Did you grade this in Resolve? Would love to know your workflow and if you added grain ... e.g., FilmConvert or Gorilla Grain.

Great song, very meshuggah-esque. Excellent video, I'd love to shoot something like this.

Hey there, thanks for the nice coments! It was graded in Adobe raw, I just seem to get a lot more control over the image I want to achieve in that, resolve is always a bit trial and error and I can't seem to control the light as well in it. The down side to adobe raw is it took me 30 hours to render the graded footage.
I used blue paint as blood to avoid picking out skin tones when keying.

A small amount of grain was added in Adobe raw.

Thanks for the info. Again ... I think the grade really works for this song. Nice!

Good job, Richard!

I like the use of the time laps and the blue paint for keying was a great idea. I also liked the concept of the video. I thought it fit the song nicely.

great job brother, loved the use of time-lapse and b and w worked well, although I'm sorry but I do have to call you out on one thing and I think you know what it is ;). The whole thing is basically a major rip off of one of my favourite foreign movies "Los cronocrímenes" or "timecrimes". v cool movie. good job though.

a few people have said its similar to time crimes, I've never seen it myself, it was actually inspired by a film called triangle. which in itself might have been inspired by time crimes i don't know :)

Was just about to comment how it reminded me of Triangle right away.
