Waiting for Godot....I think that many potential buyers of the Blackmagic Cinema Camera, indeed originally quite enthusiastic customers, are beginning to loose faith in the ability of Blackmagicdesign to deliver what has been promised, advertized, and ... postponed.
After some time, when a such a psychological stage of disbelief has been reached in the mind of customers – I call the red line – many of these customers will consider, as it is already the case, other solutions, and brand fandom will turn into brand skepticism. Also the distributors, at least the honest and caring ones, have started to despair about the informational void created around the delivery of the BMCC.
I have no doubt however, that BM will deliver its goods to the masses some merry day. But I fear that, when the flow of ready to market cameras will be capable to satisfy the demand, many buyers will already have opted for alternatives, even pricier ones.
A very important issue which has NOT been clearly covered by BMD is how cameras will be serviced, for example here in Norway. This is a crucial issue for professionals. So here too, we have an informational void.
I seize nevertheless the opportunity to thank BMD to allow its customers to express themselves rather freely on their own forum. Desperately wanting to shoot a real contre-jour through a window a sunny day.
