BMDCC compatability

PostFri Nov 16, 2012 4:46 pm

Hi Forum Folks - Getting ready for the drop of the BMDCC - I had a few questions:

1. Is the Cinema Camera compatible with the Canon XLH1 stock interchangable HD lens ?

2. Is it compatible with Anton Bauer Hytron100 batteries ?

If you could confirm this - it would be most appreciated.

Thanks again.

Kind regards,

I may be mistaken, but weren't the Canon XLH1 lenses designed to cover a 1/3" sensor? If so, they aren't going to cover (will severely vignette) the much larger sensor in the BMCC. The BMCC sensor size is about mid-way between S16 film and Micro Four Thirds format sizes; see:

Also, you would need a lens mount adapter to mount the lens on either the BMCC-EF or BMCC-MFT model cameras. But not worth the trouble if the lens can't cover the sensor.

The BMCC can be powered by most any 12-30 VDC power source. AB Hytron batteries will certainly work. AB has announced a gold-mount adapter plate with a cable to fit the BMCC's power input. There are other 3rd party power solutions available for the BMCC, too.

Cheers.
