Rodney Charters, highly regarded director and cinematographer, talks about using the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera side-by-side with an Alexa, what 4K acquisition means in “his” world as a high-end cinematographer, and his love for the Alexa, and what it makes this camera special.

Looks like a great tool, but did BMD ever say why TC was never implemented? Is it coming in a new firmware.. or?

It's expensive to implement the decoding hardware for LTC and adding a LEMO or BNC plug adds size. Besides, you can record timecode to an audio track and then have Resolve stamp the LCT into metadata and it works really well.

My guess is that it's a licensing/patent related reason.
