I'm a choir nut and sing in a good amateur choir. Due to illness I couldn't perform at the concert yesterday, so I seized the opportunity to document the concert instead.
I'm also a huge Blackmagic fan and promote the cameras in any way I can. Now there was a thread a while back complaining about people not using the equipment in it's intended way. This is my unintended way of using the cameras. Recording for 90 minutes straight.
Equipment used:
Wide camera: BMPCC with Metabones BMPCC Speed Booster and Samyang 14mm T3.1 @ roughly T3.6. Conductor camera: BMPCC with Metabones BMCC Speed Booster and Tamron 17-50 F2.8 @ F2.8. Moving camera: BMCC EF with Tamron 17-50 F2.8 @ F2.8. Yeah, I missed focus a couple of times but it was hard on the BMCC screen.
Sound: A pair of Microtech Gefell M296 mics going through a KORG MR1000 at 24 bit 96 KHz.
Prores LT except for the BMCC, which filmed in Prores 422. Edited and graded in Premiere/SpeedGrade.
Wow thanks guys! I shot this in LOG with all cameras in ASA 800, 3200K. The BMCC was more pushed than the other cameras, but had less noise... Sync was done in Premiere, looking at waveforms and hand-matching the clips.
Didn't bring any lights. Unfortunately... I relied on the halogen spotlights in the church. All my equipment fit in two gym bags for cameras/audio and two bags for stands, so it was brought there on public transportation. The people at the far edges of the choir have been up-graded (pun intended) in post, for a more evenly lit presentation. The grading was done in Speedgrade and Premiere using masks.
