New Trailer Short Film (shot entirely on blackmagic cams)

PostSun Mar 01, 2015 6:26 pm

Hi there,

just finished the trailer of my short film "Seine Spur".
Would love to hear some feedback.
(if you click on CC-Button you're able to see english subtitles)

About the short film:
It's 27mins long and is entirely shot on blackmagic cams.
It's a student film and I did this short film for my master thesis.
Right now I'm sending it out to festivals so I can't publish it yet.

I am quite fortunate to have seen the entire film. Andreas has used the BM cams to their maximum potential here, producing the most delicious, cinematic images I've seen from these cams so far. (who needs an Alexa...)

Looking forward to your future projects!

One word for this trailer: ridiculous. Two words: ridiculously great! I don't need to wish you luck in these festivals; you will do well. Please let us know how they go so we can say, "I knew Andreas when he was just a..."

Now the rest of us will just save the URL to your film when you can post it, and when someone asks what these ridiculous cameras can do, we can just reply "in the right hands:" and post with that link. BMD will surely want to link to your film's URL.

Of course your film is much more than the cameras; you have great music, great composition and POV, great timing, good lighting, a good story and good actors. But it is sweet to marry all that with stunning images that begin with the cameras.

Outstanding job. What is the contex translation of SEINE SPUR (his track/it's trace)? Very professionally done from what is shown, and excellent photography. Congratulations!

Simply stunning. Looks at par with expensive ones. Which cameras did you used?
All the best for festivals. Looking forward to watch full film.

Directly translated it would be more "his track".

I used the BMCC 2,5K mft with a speedbooster and mostly older nikon prime lenses (ais). For the aerials we used the pocket.

this is arguably the greatest case of BM usage I have ever seen.

I have seen somewhat beautiful footage before, but this is the first time I see an imagery stitched together for sake of cinematic story telling.

Impressive sound design, cut and grading.
and special handshake for the BMPCC on the drone.
a pocket on the drone made everything fluidly connected.

Great work...
Especially due to use old lenses that we have almost forgotten.
Can't wait to see the movie.

This is the best use of the BMCC I have seen yet. Cinematography is superb; color is awesome; editing is fabulous. Just goes to show us all that the good use of a camera starts with good set design, lighting, and color palette choice. BRAVO!

No idea what'sgoing on here. Looks like a horror story about a killer fisherman. Anyway, looks outstanding. Can't wait to see it.

Thank you Scott, Tyler, Jason! It is really humbling to hear you all.

@ Jason:  Well there should be quite some suspense in the short film.
But it's actually not meant to be a horror type of genre.
I guess you can only tell by seeing the whole movie.

I also wanna thank Frank Glencairn for providing his Kodachrome Lut which I used quite a bit in Davinci.

Amazing job. Can't wait to see more! And it confirms that original BMCC sensor is still the best one, I really hope BM will continue to develop cameras around it.

bravo!

Not sure if you're on Facebook Andreas, but after seeing your trailer I instantly posted this is a film group I am a part of. An abridged version of what I wrote below.

"Philip Bloom sold me on buying the Blackmagic Cinema Camera EF mount with his 'Blackmagic Cinema Camera test footage from Dungeness' video.

Now, Andreas Kaufmann is selling me on buying a Blackmagic Cinema Camera MFT mount w/ Speedbooster. I have never seen anyone push this camera more than this cat right here. Respect!"
