Ursa Mini & Gimbal

PostSat May 02, 2015 11:39 pm

Very excited to get my hands on a Ursa mini, however I'm concerned about rigging it on a gimbal. I've always wanted to purchase myself a motorized gimbal and i'd like to know any suggestions or recommendations when it comes to brands/models. Any kind of input, would be great!

edit: My main concern is to find a gimbal that supports/fits with the mini ursa, I've went on BM official page and it featured a movi, however that's beyond my budget. I'm looking for something more affordable no more than $3000

I wonder if moving the rear mounted battery to being on top, might help it fit in with more gimbals.

I wouldn't mount battery on camera anyway 'cause of the weight. Either power it from the gimbal (if possible) or have a lead coming off the battery that is strapped to your belt etc.

Most of the higher end gimbals have at least one extra power tap with which to power a camera. The Ronin has taps built into the base where the camera would sit.

You'll probably need an outboard monitor due to the fact that Ursa Mini's monitor is on the side.

For $3000 your best bet is definitely a Ronin.

And you attach the monitor to the gimbal e.g. on my Ronin it can be on the top handle bar.

Are the extended arms really necessary? Isn't it a 3rd party accessory?
