Is safe to put the little plastic piece that comes with most SSD inside the camera SSD reader?

It is, if your SSD measure is 7mm, the spacer (plastic thing) is meant to adapt your SSD to 9.5mm, which is the needed SSD measurement to properly fit in your BMPC or BMCC.

The other thing you need to be sure is if your SSD it's in the recommended SSD list of RAW and ProRes recording cards, so you don't have any dropping frames problem.

Did you add the plastic spacer to the SSD card, or into the actual card slot?

The spacer is only meant to be put onto the card as you will not be able to use different sized SSDs, and could damage the inside of the camera when you try to remove it.
