Camera Lens

PostWed Nov 18, 2015 11:41 pm

Hi I am a creative arts teacher at a high school and we were looking into buying a ursa mini 4k to record music, dance and drama performances. Can anyone let me know of an affordable multi purpose lens that would suit.

Thanks,
Anthony

I may sound like a parrot on this forum but the Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 Art is simply a georgeus Lense with BM cameras. It's pretty fast with the 1.8 Iris, which is really important in theatre work.
I'm using it with my BMCC 2.5K and despite the smaller sensor it covers most wide shots. It's obviously not good for close-up shots, so you would need another lens for that.

I shot a short trailer a few weeks ago that had to be shot & edited within the last rehearsal days (whilst I was also sitting in the orchestra playing timpani). Shot on the BMCC with either the Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 (from left side) or a Canon 50mm 1.8 STM (frontal).

Unfortunately due to license-issues we were forced to change the sound entirely, so I'd recommend turning off the music.
