Corrupt card? - URSA

PostSun Dec 13, 2015 2:19 pm

Hi,

Just got my ursa for a few days now, the accessoires are coming in also finally. Just loaded some clips into Davinci, and saw some things that doesn't belong there.

When i want to open it in CR , it gives me a - Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file - message. And when i want to preview it in finder, it's basically a black still.

Shot in raw 3:1, with lexar 128gb 3400x card, into a lexar CR2 reader. Formatted in HFS+ in-camera, going to test fat next time.

Can you try also raw uncompressed rather than raw 3:1? The 3:1 and 4:1 raw format may not yet be supported by ACR. Best to use DaVinci Resolve to debayer.

Will do some testing tonight, the screenshot is from davinci resolve 12.1. Other clips also contain this yellow/magenta lines on the left.

I know that Lexar now sells a 3500x and 3600x CFast 2 card, the latter of which I believe is certified for use on some ARRI cameras. The last time I looked, the new cards were not on BMD's list of certified cards, but once they are, you will likely want the 3600x cards for any new purchases.

Hi willem ..I'll eliminate one issue for you ..3:1 raw files will show up as a black frame in finder since finder cannot read it as well as any other programs for that matter.. Once you pull 3:1 raw into resolve then it will be read, at this moment only resolve can read 3:1 raw files. When you render that 3:1 file out of resolve ..into pro res or whatever format you choose, then it will be read by finder and any other program

Hi, I was looking for this, thanks for the confirmation.

Not sure why I have those yellow lines on the left on my first clips. I re-formatted in exfat on my mac, this time the clips are clean so far! Will keep testing for this, hopefully it was just a bad format somehow.

hi willem no problem, also willem for mac you must format in hfs+ not exfat. Exfat is for windows computers. if you're on a mac its Hfs+

Yes, i know, just trying out some things what caused the previous yellow/magenta lines in some of my clips. I did a fresh format in HFS+, the clips are clean so far. :)

Donnell, the Mac supports exFAT too and has for a few generations of the OS X.

Thanks for the correction Rick , you're right that ex fat option is available when formatting in OSX.

The Operating System (from Capital Letters) should support the exfat since it's the open standard format for the standard media (SDXC). Mac Os X IS an Operating System since it supports the exfat at least via Fuse FS.

HFS+ is NOT the open standard format.
